SCIENT, a leading life-sciences-focused public relations and communications company, seeks aSenior Media Relations Specialist to join our team. The anticipated salary range for this positionis $75,000 - $110,000/year, depending on qualifications and experience.

The Senior Media Relations Specialist will provide media relations and thought leadershipcounsel and execution for SCIENT’s biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector clients. Theseclients range from privately held startups to mid-cap, publicly traded pharmaceutical companiesand healthcare organizations

SCIENT is seeking a colleague who..
- Demonstrates an understanding of how journalists report on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors and a desire to continue learning about these sectors
- Can develop media strategies and action plans that help address clients’ business goals and objectives, including media targets, story angles, and outreach approaches
- Makes connections between trends reporters are covering and what clients can offer.Moves urgently to identify, pursue, and secure these opportunities when they arise.
- Has a proven ability to develop compelling pitches for media
- Proactively seeks opportunities to educate clients and colleagues on changes happening across the media landscape that could help or hinder SCIENT’s ability to securemeaningful media coverage.
- Writes clearly and concisely across multiple mediums and for various stakeholders, including but not limited to clients, journalists, and account teams
- Prepares C-suite executives to conduct successful media interviews through media preparation, development of briefing documents, and constructive feedback after interviews
- Manages their time efficiently and independently
- Is comfortable working in a virtual, dynamic, entrepreneurial agency setting
- Contributes to internal agency activities to enhance and foster a dynamic and inclusive workplace culture
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of communications experience, preferably in a media relations role
- Strong media relations skills and relationships at the national, regional, and local levelsand across platforms
- Previous biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector experience
- Excellent communication/presentation skills; verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and project management skills
- Open to giving and receiving constructive and respectful feedback in a timely manner
- Desire to continuously learn new skills and knowledge, and willingness to share skills and knowledge with fellow team members, as well as client partners
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, preferably in communication, journalism, or a related field
